Dr. Nims began her career in private small animal practice, working primarily in New York City until 2016. She then transitioned to the pharmaceutical industry as a Professional Services Veterinarian, where she provided RACE-approved continuing education lectures to general practitioners and specialists. Her areas of focus included canine hyperadrenocorticism, canine hypoadrenocorticism, feline hyperthyroidism, topical dermatologic therapies, anesthesia, and fluid therapy.
In 2023, Dr. Nims returned to private practice, working as a relief veterinarian across hospitals in Maine and New Hampshire, while also offering comprehensive in-home care for clients in southern Maine. Her professional interests include feline medicine, internal medicine, and geriatric care, with a particular emphasis on end-of-life support.
Dr. Nims is thrilled to join the team at Wells Dog and Cat Hospital. Having previously worked relief shifts at the hospital, she was impressed by the team’s dedication and the strong relationships with clients, and eagerly accepted the opportunity to join full-time in May 2026. She considers it a privilege to serve the community and is committed to delivering high-quality medicine with a focus on low-stress handling and clear, compassionate communication.
Dr. Nims is based in Portland, Maine—her favorite place she has lived after calling five states home. Outside of work, she enjoys antiquing with her partner and spending time with her black cat, Raven, whose antics never fail to entertain.
